Landmark Forestry takes advantage of the latest technology to more efficiently and accurately perform tasks for clients. GPS is a technology that uses signals from orbiting satellites to pinpoint the position of the GPS receiver. This data can be used to establish timber sale boundaries, calculate acreages, determine geographic location of any feature such as: roads, utility poles, city streets, manhole locations, fire hydrants, gas well locations, or potential environmental hazards. This data can be displayed on the users choice of map type. A rural utility line or forest stand boundary would be best displayed on a topographic map, while city streets and manhole covers would be best displayed on a city street map. Landmark Forestry uses Trimble Geo-Explores II's and III's to collect data. This data can be corrected to be within 1-2 meters of the actual geographic location of the feature being mapped.
