Landmark Forestry LLC has represented many clients in timber trespass cases. Work in the field and in the courtroom has been conducted on these matters. A total of about one million board feet has been accounted for on these projects.
A question often asked by our clients concerning Severed Timber Appraisals are, "How do you evaluate and place a value on a tree that is no longer there?" The answer is that we rely on the homogeny of the timber. If we know the diameter of the stump, the height of the stump and the species of the tree, we can use that and other information from a Landmark Forestry database or from information taken from the site, to properly assign a volume and ultimately a value to that tree.
